For professional advisers

Many disputes first surface with somebody who is not a disputes lawyer.

An accountant may spot a shareholder problem. A property adviser may see a landlord and tenant dispute developing. A corporate lawyer may have a client relationship they want to preserve without becoming involved in contentious work.

RWS accepts introductions from professional advisers where a client needs focused help with a dispute.

How I can fit in

RWS can be brought in for:

  • an initial assessment;
  • a second opinion;
  • document and evidence analysis;
  • pre-action drafting;
  • negotiation and settlement strategy;
  • arbitration support;
  • preparation for counsel or authorised litigation lawyers; or
  • continuing strategic input alongside another professional team.

I do not need to replace the existing advisers

An introduction does not mean RWS has to take over the wider client relationship.

Where appropriate I can deal with a defined contentious issue while the accountant, corporate lawyer, property adviser or other professional remains the client's principal adviser.

Any proposed working arrangement must be assessed before it begins. An introduction, working independently for the client, and working for or under the direction of a firm are different arrangements. Working for, being paid by, or working under the direction or supervision of a solicitor or regulated firm may require prior written SRA approval. Please read the Regulatory Information for the current status and the limits of the service. Regulatory Information
