About Ryan Williams

I joined Lorrells in 2007 as a receptionist. I went on to work as a legal secretary and paralegal before completing my training contract at the firm. I studied for the Legal Practice Course in the evenings while working during the day.

Much of my early work involved preparing court bundles and instructions to counsel, and attending meetings with clients and barristers. That gave me a close view of how cases were prepared and how decisions were made.

After qualifying, I practised at Lorrells, Cavendish Legal Group, TV Edwards, SBP Law and Healys LLP.

At TV Edwards, I established and led the litigation department as Head of Litigation. I was invited to apply for partnership. I left the firm before taking up a partnership there, and went on to hold partner roles at SBP Law and Healys.

I previously headed contentious probate at Lorrells LLP, TV Edwards, SBP Law and Healys LLP.

My experience also includes libel. As a trainee at Lorrells, I worked for the claimant in Wiseman v Sullivan and instructed Jacob Dean of 5RB, now King's Counsel. The case concluded with an apology and damages and was reported in the press.

I am regularly instructed by ION TV, a London-based Bengali-language broadcaster covering news, politics and entertainment for Bangladeshi audiences in the UK and overseas.

I have also been invited to speak at an event at the House of Lords concerning Tarique Rahman, now the Prime Minister of Bangladesh.

I read the documents closely and want to understand what actually happened. If I think an argument is weak, I will say so. If an important document is missing, I will explain why it matters.

I want you to understand my advice and be able to make a decision about the next step. That includes considering whether the likely benefit justifies the cost of pursuing a dispute.

When you instruct RWS, you deal directly with me. We agree what you need help with and the scope of the work before I begin.

I can provide a second opinion, review documents and evidence, and help prepare advice and correspondence within RWS's non-reserved consultancy role.
